Gas in Gas Springs / Hazard from Gas Springs

Gas springs are under pressure as they are filled with compressed nitrogen. A warning label on the gas spring indicates that a gas spring should not be opened, heated, or damaged to prevent any potential harm.

A gas spring does not explode as materials and filling are used in a way that ensures sufficient safety.

Installation of Gas Springs

Gas springs should be used within a temperature range of -30°C to +80°C. Using them outside of this range would cause the product to wear quickly and not function properly.

Gas springs should be installed with the piston rod down to ensure that seals are protected and free from dust.

If it is not possible to install your gas spring with the piston rod down, there are solutions available. We would be happy to advise you; please contact us.

Proper installation of gas springs is important for maximizing their lifespan and ensuring optimal functionality of the entire application.

Gas springs lose their extension force over their service life, so a higher force is advisable for a longer lifespan.

Order Process

Please understand that we can only accept orders in writing. We kindly ask you to place your order through our webshop, but we also accept orders via email at order@hu-te.com.

Delivery Time

Standard gas springs are usually in stock and can be delivered within one week. For custom orders or larger quantities, we will inform you directly and promptly about the delivery time through our webshop, or you can contact us via email.

Differences in the Use of One or Two Gas Springs

Using only one gas spring for a flap is more cost-effective, but it results in higher and one-sided load. The selected gas spring may need to be stronger and have a higher extension force. When using only one gas spring, it should ideally be placed in the middle of the application.

When using two gas springs, the load is evenly distributed, often resulting in a longer lifespan. The gas springs can be mounted on each side.

Load Due to the Use of Gas Springs

The installation and use of gas springs impose a certain load on the application. Flaps and hinges must be appropriately selected to accommodate the use of a gas spring.

Data for Replacement Gas Springs

Typically, there is an article number and extension force in Newtons marked on the gas spring, allowing for clear identification of the item. With this information, you can place an order in the webshop or make an inquiry via email. If you require specific connectors, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Replacement Gas Spring Without Data

Use our "Measurement Sheet" in the Download section and fill in all the relevant fields. We will be happy to provide you with a non-binding offer as soon as we receive your email.

Strength of Replacement Gas Spring (Extension Force)

The extension force in Newton is indicated on the gas spring. In general, the same force should be ordered for replacement.

If the extension force is not known or a different force is desired, the gas spring should be recalculated for your application. Inform us of your requirements via email, and we will be happy to provide you with an offer.

Return of Gas Springs

Your order is custom-made, as each gas spring is finalized with the extension force of your choice. Therefore, each order is unique. An exchange or return of the products is not possible for this reason.

Please contact us directly in this case. We will work together to find a solution.

Refilling of Gas Springs

Under certain conditions and depending on the gas spring, it may be possible to increase the extension force. Please ask us for more information!

Maintenance of Gas Springs

A gas spring does not require regular maintenance.

Contamination of Gas Springs

If a gas spring is used in a dirty environment, it may affect the functionality and lifespan of the product.

There are various options available to protect the gas pressure spring in your application. Please contact us!

Gas Spring Repair

Repairing a gas spring is not possible.

During the manufacturing process, a sealed product is created. A gas spring is under high pressure and would be destroyed if opened.

Disposal of Gas Springs

Gas springs should not be disposed of in household waste.

Please refer to the information in the Download section for details on ingredients, materials, and disposal.

Gas Springs with End Stops

A gas spring should not be used as an end stop.

It is advantageous to use a stop so that the piston rod cannot be fully retracted. This ensures functionality and a long service life.
